Another lovely afternoon at Farway Grange Nursing Another lovely afternoon at Farway Grange Nursing Home yesterday making herb bunches and sowing seeds. Everybody enjoyed smelling the different herbs before making their bouquets. Some divided opinion, as we had rosemary, blackcurrant sage, bay, mint and lemon balm to choose from. One of the group had pressed more flowers and made a beautiful window display for us too.

Take an Autumn Adventure – Nature Connection Au Take an Autumn Adventure – Nature Connection

Autumn - the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness as John Keats wrote is also a beautiful season to discover the pathways and benefits of nature connection.

Engage your senses on a nature walk as the warm days and cooler nights bring mystical misty mornings, which provide beautiful wildlife moments as the sun burns through the mist and spiders’ webs glisten in the light, squirrels collecting acorns to see them through the winter and birds feasting on the fruits and berries that line the paths. Keep an eye out for the iconic Fly Agaric and other amazing fungi that can be found in the woodland, the rich scent of the damp soil and the crunch of the leaves underfoot adding to the atmosphere of your autumn stroll.

The colours of autumn are also rich, with soft golds, blazing reds and burnt oranges as the leaves start to change before falling to the floor to provide shelter and food for those that call the forest their home. Flowers from the hedgerows have made way for fat, ripe, brightly coloured berries and rosehips, which will provide food for a range of wildlife from birds to mammals.

Make the most of the changing seasons and the last warm days before winter and have an autumn adventure. See what you can spot out and about, crunch through the fallen leaves, collect some conkers, take some photos, take some time to do some green sketching or even write a poem. I'd love to see what you get up to so feel free to share.
